hey gang

just got the Yammie today..I interecpted th eUPS guy on the ROAD hahaha

took about 30 minutes or so to wire and set up (dust off the other componants- ick)

went straigt to the manual set up and got it going.

sounds great...no complaints...might take a while to learn everything though

thats the fun part though

BTW it is a heavy sucker

any way nice machine

oh..I couldn't wait till the 2500 came out...no regrets

I was poking around a bit - while the lower end Yamaha receivers were tested as able to do about 39 watts per channel with all channels driven, that receiver can do 100 watts per channel with all channels driven - and 150 with two channels driven, something most receivers in that price range simply don't do. That is an amazing amp in there! Hope you enjoy the new toy.

Where did you find this information? 7 channels of 100 continous watts is pretty impressive.

I think you are mistaken from Audioholics review:

Given the size of the power supply, and the large storage banks, the RX-V2400 has potentially added headroom to better drive moderately difficult two channel loads. However, be cautioned that this receiver will NOT deliver anywhere near its rated power with all channels driven (nor is it specified too) which is not a realistic operational condition in any real world listening environment anyway.

I would venture to say based on the 640VA power supply rating and 71V caps, the RX-V2400 would easily deliver 120wpc X 2 and about:

80 wpc (ref 1kHz) X 5 all channels driven

60 wpc (ref 1kHz) X 7 all channels driven

(assuming line voltage held constant, 8 ohm loads

This is a terrific amp! (That's plenty of power) I am currently testing the Yam 5790 and it is more juice than one will ever need. The 2400 is a lot better still! Enjoy!

The only thing they've been wrong with was the Panasonic digital receiver, as another site tested it as having much more power. The rest of their tests have been right on the money. I only check them to look at the wattage info, and they tested the RX-V 2400 with 100x5 at the 0.1% distortion level.

Sure, per channel if only one channel is driven. The key phrase is "all channels driven."

at any rate it sounds sweet, did an auto test and it thinks the M22 are BIG and the 150 but the QS8 came out as small


and the sub was a little weak for my taste, so i cranked it up manually on the subs amp

sounds killer now

me and my son are watching (the worst) episode I Star Wars...some of the chapters have bitchin sounds .

the auto set up did great.

And as for the power etc...we hit -15 db and it was pretty intense

in my old age and wisdom--- i may never go much higher on a flick!!
