Roger Waters has released two new songs:
"To Kill the Child" and "Leaving Beirut"
They are political (what else is new) and are available in various streaming formats on his website.

Interesting...
Have been a fan since the 70's. When my new Mansfield B's (M60's, VP150, EP350, Qs8's) arrive next week, I'll have to check out, on my new Denon 2805, some of my old cd's I haven't listened to in awhile! I enjoy listening to Roger Waters "The Wall" Live in Berlin.....

You know, while I still admire the musicianship and production, I stopped really listening to Waters (and Floyd) about 20 years ago when I decided that it simply wasn't that much fun to listen to music that was successfully designed to make me feel miserable.

Tom
Try some of the older Floyd like "Meddle" or "Obscured by Clouds". they seem to put a little "spring" into my step while cleaning house. "Whats Uh The Deal", "Free Four", "Seamus" and "San Topix" are anything but depressing.
Thanks for the Waters tip.
Are these songs coming out on a cd or better yet a sacd soon?

Sure wish Waters and Gilmour would kiss and make up.

Back in the 80's while in high school, seems like ages ago, we used to go to the Pink Floyd Laser Light show in Des Moines, Iowa at the Science Center, it was pretty awesome synched to the music, they would usually open with Alan Parson's Project, which was also pretty cool.....

C'mon. Go back and listen to "Free Four" again. One.. two.. FREE FOUR... instant depression.
"The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You shuffle in gloom in the sickroom
And talk to yourself till you die."
Great synth too... Seamus and San Tropez are great, I agree.

Meddle is definitely out on CD but haven't seen Obscured yet. A friend told me that Atom Heart Mother is on CD but nobody can find it. I still have about 4:1 LPs to CDs, but I do have all my own teeth.
Heading out to the Waters site now.

I suppose it's a matter of taste, but I always felt the best Floyd albums were the later ones (Animals is easily my favorite) where the anger and bitterness was so palpable. Others may disagree (after years of these types of discussions I realize I'm in the minority), but the ideas and emotions are articulated so clearly, it's just chilling. Amused to Death is incredible, and it's also a fantastic system demo CD. Highly recommended for any Waters fans who haven't heard it.

Well, guess I'm in another minority. I absolutely love Floyd. Wish you here Here, Animals, Dark side of the moon, Atom heart mother, etc...
Favorite line from Wish you were here, "Aren't we all minors for truth and delusion"
Floyd has some of the best transitions in there songs that I've ever heard in classic rock. The album, The Wall can be a bit of a bummer -- but an ultimate classic. Songs like Mother. Are we talking about the same band?!?!?!
"Mother do you think they'll bust my balls"
It has long been a staple in my classic rock collection. Wow, I am amazed at this thread...very surprised!!!

I think everyone on this thread loves Pink Floyd, just commenting that Waters tended to go through some seriously "down" periods and that tended to show up in the lyrics.
So tell me, do YOU think "Free Four" (off Obscured by Clouds) is a "happy song" ?
