When I was going through a seriously down period in my life -- my future wife had dumped me, you see -- Floyd's "Division Bell" really helped me wallow. Never underestimate the healing power of music that helps you wallow. Eventually, my roommate complained and told me if I kept listening to that album on repeat, I would wither into a cold shapeless mass of misery. That was my wake-up call and beginning of my recovery.

yes, I'm sure you are correct. Some of it can definately bring you down. I heard Wish you Were Here, was written from within an insane Asylum. Real Cheary stuff.

Personally, if you're in a real wrist slitting mood, Neil Young is the only way to go. hehehe. No offense meant to any Neil fans. I love Neil... speaking of which there are some really good strumming on Harvest that the Axioms bring out.

Yep...Wrong band.

But some of us enjoy Styx too...

Except they are not Styx anymore without Dennis DeYoung...but lets just leave it at that...

I guess for me its the beat in "Free Four" that puts a spring in my step.
Now that you guys have gone and pointed out the lyrics, I'm very depresessed. ; ) I think one of you guys need to cheer me up with a six pack of XX amber, or better yet as long as we're listening to Floyd..........

I like ALL floyd and 90% of Waters by himself.

yea, the last time I saw Floyd it was at RFK stadium in DC. There was more than beer drinking at that one. I can't remeber getting depressed at that show. I like the big inflated Pig. They have some great effects that go with their music. I wish it wasn't so late, I put some on right now... let's see what would it be. May Time on Dark side of the moon. Let's see if I can't wake the neighborhood up. Great alarm clock.

I find it shows off the imaging potential of a stereo system better than just about anything I have heard. All the different instruments have sharp & accurate positioning spread evenly across the soundscape, no "synth on the left, percussion on the right", singer in the middle" for this track.
