Surely those aren't minijacks near the line in and out?! That would be one %*&! of a computer speaker system...

So what are those things in between the RCA jacks and the XLR jacks? Little bitty pots?

I would guess that they are switches for either XLR (balanced) or RCA inputs and outputs.

Well, I got egg on my face for this one. 
They indeed are MINI JACKS! When I first made a cursory look I thought they were just rivets of some form.
Way to be persistent Kcarlie. I decided to take another look and noticed they looked more like little holes. Went and got a mini jack and voila it fit perfect! Now I'm going to have to figure out how to move it from the HT room to the computer room every day.
By the way that back panel in the right light has a real eligant gold look to it. Nice knobs too.

Since they are mini jacks, I doubt that they are standard ones. I would assume that they are balanced mono instead of standard mono or stereo. I've never seen balanced connections of that size though. I've seen balanced for 3/8" (the "big" headphone plug size which is the plug size of "real" headphones) plugs but never 1/8" plugs (the little "regular" headphone size).

Jag,
Those mini-jacks are trigger inputs/outputs to remotely turn on other equipment. They are meant to be used together with balanced XLR interconnection of A/V processors and other gear that has balanced outputs.
Don't plug any audio devices into those mini-jacks!

Good thing its so heavy otherwise I may have moved it to the computer room and tried connecting it up to the computer. 
Can anyone explain to me what XLR connections are and how they would be used with A/V processors or other gear as Alan mentioned?

If you have ever been in an auditorium, school gym or whatever and seen connector plates in the wall or floor with a circular connector about 1/2" in diameter with two pins and a notch so you can lock a metal plug in -- that's probably an XLR connector. Probably
