Not all cables are created equal. If the cable is a cheapo RCA it might not pass a digital coax signal. I have a set of stereo RCA's sitting here that will not pass a digital coax signal.
This is yet another example of why there is some truth to the argument that not all cables are the same.

I will send them to you and you are free to try! I have tried a few times on various equipment and they won't do it. They are even Ultra Links which some think are a decent cable. But no matter what I have tried them with, they won't work on a digital coax out.

I take it they work just fine with analog signals? That's so weird.

Yeah they do. I think it's a bandwidth thing. I know that you need a little more to push a digital signal. Most push 75ohm but you really need less then half of that.
I'm lost but I have a few more that won't do it either!

I maybe on an impass right now because I sent my remote for the 3805 in for repairs and haven't gotten it back yet. I tried to manually set all the right settings in both units and haven't hit the right combo yet. I guess it's back to the manuals some more. I'll keep you all posted if I make any ground breaking progress

You need a LOT more bandwidth to push a digital signal through the wire. Analog signals need (say) 20KHz, 5.1 digital needs at least a few MHz...
I learned this at the tender age of 19, the first time I tried to run a 4 GHz satellite signal through a jumper cable. It was the strangest thing, there was signal at one end but NOTHING at the other end

Hate to be picky, but kHz and MHz are measures of frequency, not bandwidth. (This is when someone gets to step in and make me wrong, again.)

If you are using the analog outputs on the 2200 to the 3805 receiver you need to set the receiver to analog instead of digital.
