IMO....it should easily have more output. Sound quality is a different story.

For $1200....there are a lot of possibilities.

Right now, if I needed that kind of output and wanted sound quality, I would get a Hsu TN1220 with the 500watt amp. If I found I needed more output, I would add another TN1220. The amp can handle two subs. The downside....they are not living room friendly.

The SVS subs in the wood finishes are gorgeous and big.

Curtis you are now changing your choice from the SVS PB-12Plus/2
to the TN1220? Why is that? The TN1220 is not as beefy...yes it supposedly goes down to 18hz but I havent seen any measurements? Is that 18hz anecholic or in room response. It also is not really that beefy..in weight that is. Yes it is a cylinder but it is a skinny one and it is not as thick as the SVS cylinders. Height is not an issue as my ceiling is fairly tall.
Since I have up to 1250 USD for budget I am open to suggestions.
So far this is what I have been getting from you guys:

current place - 2416 cu ft plus open to kitchen another 1800 cu ft
new place - 5750 cu ft

To get a big output I guess the bigger the enclosure the louder the bass? I maybe wrong in this assumption.

EP500 - in room response to 15hz but I do not know if I will get that with reflective cork flooring, tall glass windows, a ceiling of 16.5 feet and the room open to kitchen area. Can look great with finishes. Nice and heavy, Excellent small size.

TN1220 - light weight so could be dancing on my slidy cork floor, top heavy, boy will my dog love that fabric, low down to 18hz supposedly. Its a cylinder but its only 12 inch diameter which to me can look really good.

SVS PB10-ISD - cheap so I can get 2. Good to 18hz. Good weight. Nice colors. Loud output since 2 subs but how good is the PB10-ISD vs PB12-Plus/2.

PB12-Plus/2 - most expensive of the lot. Supposedly big..site does not say how big. Black is only the option. Goes down to 16Hz.

SVS cylinder. I think it just a monster with 16 diameter. You can't make that thing disappear. Heck its bigger than the fiancee.

No third party has measured a EP500 to 15hz in-room....yet....or 19hz anechoically....it is too new.

The Hsu has been measured flat, anechoicly, to 18hz, and in-room to 16hz by a third party. Obviously...all rooms are different. The sub has been around a long time.

I have heard two SVS subs in my room...and I thought my VTF-3 was cleaner. Some will call me biased, so if you have a chance to compare, I suggest you do so.

Here are three subs...so you can guess the relative sizes:
SVS PB12+(single driver), my VTF-3, and my STF-2. Remember, the PB12-plus/2 is even bigger.


Despite it being bigger...in my room, it offered no performance gain as far as output is concerned.....but my room is 14x18x9.

Oh....BTW....unless you co-locate two subs, you do not get that much gain in overall output.

I do not think you are biased at all. Most people do not have the luxury of having all of those subs in the same room to compare. Your opinion is valuable to me. As with some opinions of others that have stirred my towards the HSU VTF2 I was sorely disappointed thinking it would best my older Mirage BPS150 bipolar sub with 2 x 8 inches drivers. It did not go as deep as my Mirage or get to the same output. The Mirage had a bigger enclosure which could have helped. Their opinion maybe was based on the fact the VTF2 did better than their older sub. The Mirage actually was a very good sub at its time...and it wasn't cheap back in 2000 which was close to $1000.

Thats HUGE!!!!!!

So your recomendation for a lot of cubic feet is going for the TN1220. Doesn't that thing tap dance at higher volumes since it is not bottom heavy? So do you think/know if the TN1220 would outperform the SVS PB12 plus/2 or the SVS PB12 ISD/2?

Is the older front fireing VTF3 as large as the newer bottom fireing VTF3?

The Hsu that measured flat anechoically is the TN1220.....I believe the VTF-3 did as well, but not at clean. All the professional reviews are up on Hsu's site.

Yes...the new VTF-3MK2 and my older VTF-3 are almost exactly the same size. The MK2 has feet....so it is a little taller.

Saturn...did you actually measure your old sub playing lower than the VTF-2?

I think the Hsu would have better sound quality, and two of them would at least match the output if not surpass it. Without really testing it, I do not know. I don't think I would ever need any more output than what my VTF-3 provides.....but I am always looking for better sound quality.

Measure... nope. I have played numourous titles and it did not give me the same ummppphhhh....as my old Mirage did. Maybe the Mirage had a bass hump in the 30-60 range and fooled my ears that it seemed louder and deeper. Noticed it in the Pod race scene and in Jurassic Park 3 and the VTF2 did not give me the same punch. MAybe the VTF2 was not configured properly for my setup. I just moved the VTF2 exactly where the Mirage used to be. Maybe it was where it was located...maybe it is because I have 17 ft ceilings and the room open to the Kitchen so the bass tried to cover a big cubic space...I dunno. In the end it was sold.
Soo I want to make sure the next sub purchase is what I plan to stay with for at least 4-6 years or longer.

Yeah...that punch is usually in the 30-60hz range. If the Mirage had a hump there, then any of these other subs you are looking at will not be the same...they are all relatively flat...including the VTF-2. Below 30hz is where you feeling things moving and shaking.
