My favorite 2 performances are :
1) George C. Scott - Patton
2) Peter O'Toole - Lawrence of Arabia

This will probably get me banned and sent to the loony bin, but for some reason the dinner scene in "The Hunt for Red October" always compels a rewind or 2. I could watch Sean Connery eat for the lenght of the movie. I will be quiet now.

I don't know why but Brad Pitt in 12 monkeys and in Fight Club makes me wonder if he really is crazy. Fight Club is still one of those movies I could watch over and over. Quite a mind trip. If you have not seen it, do yourself a favor and take the time to watch.

I agree on Kate Beckensale. She worked very well. Which led to horrible disapointment at her in Van Helsing (PU).
Kate Blanchet in "The Gift"
Helena Bonhom Carter in "Fight Club"
Hmm seems to be a theme I have going here of skinny pale english women...

Oh, and Scarlett Johansen in Lost in Translation. Very much wow.

The Gift was most excellent as is Kate Blanchet as an actress. It's one of those movies that I just can't get out of my mind. Billy Bob Thornton, who co-wrote that movie is also an excellent actor. He was most convincing in Sling Blade.

Cate Blanchette is a most wonderful actress. I first saw her in 3 movies where each character was very different, "Elizabeth," "The Gift," and "Bandits." Being that versatile demonstrates a prodigious talent. She's also a delight to look at.

Okay, you guys are going to think I'm nuts, but Holly Hunter is IT. All the rest of the glamour queens you guys have mentioned don't even come close to Holly for me. Well, okay...Audrey Hepburn is pretty tough to beat. And as far as acresses in one particular role that leave me drooling and barely verbal (no particular order):
1) Ingrid Bergman - Casablanca
2) Naomi Watts - Mulholland Drive
3) Sarah Polley - No Such Thing (there's an intangible something here I can't pin down...)
4) Holly Hunter - Raising Arizona (leave me alone...)
5) Kate Winslet - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I'm sure more will come to me. I'll append my list when they do.

Amen, brother. I saw 12 Monkeys, and my view of Brad Pitt changed forever. What an amazing actor.

Dude, what about Helen Hunt? Not that she's been in very many good movies...
Holly Hunter's a great actress with some great roles, but she doesn't do much for me in that way.

I said leave me alone, dammit!
Seriously, the Holly Variable is a composite of a few things: The perpetual twinkle in the eye, for sure. That kills me. The smile, too. And petite, smart, funny, great figure, vulnerability, attitude, looks terrific in old faded black jeans (saw that in person! Yay me!), and of course...the accent. The fact that she looks sorta like an old girlfriend also plays into it a little, but I think I probably started dating Mary because she looked like Holly.
Helen Hunt? Hmmm...catch me on the right day, maybe.
Here's a question: Am I going to hell for thinking Kirsten Dunst was a knockout before she was old enough to vote?
