The wireless EP800 subwoofer has a built in receiver module to receive the signal from any Axiom wireless transmitter. No speaker wires to run or subwoofer cables to connect – just plug it in to one of your existing electrical outlets. If you do not have an existing Axiom wireless transmitter you can add it by clicking on Customize Yours and selecting it in the options.
The Epicenter EP800 is Axiom’s definitive DSP subwoofer and may set a new world standard for ultra-smooth, deep bass extension at astonishing output levels, probing the depths of infrasonic response to a remarkable 13 Hz (anechoic), even to 12 Hz in a room!
"The EP800 proved to be the deepest-playing, most powerful subwoofer I've ever heard. . . I experienced wall-shaking bass that rattled my light fixtures." -- Vince Hanada, SoundStage!
Like its stunningly-reviewed brothers, the EP500 and EP600, the new EP800 uses XLF (an Intelligent DSP chip) but applies that digital control to a new sealed enclosure with two huge dual-voice-coil 12-inch aluminum drivers, a larger amplifier (800 watts) and a new custom digital code written by its chief designer, Axiom founder Ian Colquhoun. The result further extends bass response and increases output to heretofore never achieved levels in subwoofer performance.
Ultra-Low Bass
The Deepest. This subwoofer goes down to 13 Hz (anechoic response), creating sound so deep you may not “hear” it in the conventional sense but you’ll sure as heck feel it! It’s like the ominous rumble and shaking that precedes a real earthquake. But rest assured, your house will remain intact. Only your senses will reverberate (and perhaps the crystal in the china cabinet!). The EP800 is the first subwoofer to ever achieve bass extension to 13 Hz anechoically, in a room with no boundaries.
The Smoothest. The Intelligent DSP wants things to go smoothly all the time - no bumps in the road. Using a digital roadmap, the special algorithm controls every frequency from 13 Hz to 150 Hz, never deviating more than 1 dB through this entire range. With the EP800 you won't get one-note thumpy disco bass - you'll get clean, awesomely powerful bass that mines the furthest reaches of human hearing and brings staggering realism to DVD and Blu-ray movie soundtracks as well as music of every genre. Bass drum and pipe organ will be reproduced as if you’re in the concert hall or cathedral, and contemporary rock will have the driving bass power you experience at the best of live concerts.
The Cleanest Loudest Bass. The EP800 plays louder than a live performance at Carnegie Hall or at a rock concert-- an amazing 125 dB Sound Pressure Level! Don't worry about distortion - the Intelligent DSP won't allow it. Instead, it tightly controls the signals to the 800-watt power amplifier and two massive 12-inch aluminum drivers with dual 3-inch voice coils to provide you with peak performance, never going over the edge into distortion. Crank it up - XLF makes the EP800 unbreakable!
