The Wife thought for a while(back in the 70s)that ham, not only at Easter, could be fun for her too, but got all tangled up in the practice key and oscillator. Then realized that all those antennas on the roof and in the yard was worse than a simple CB antenna at one end of the roof....then the "style" side of WAF really took hold
My Dad was heavy into "short-wave" back in the 20s and 30s and still just a bit into the 50s with his Halicrafters rig. It was fun!!
We had wires strung all over inside the house!
My Mom,(and Dad)understood WAF too.
