... but finally I got around to setting up a music system in the loft that I could control from the ground floor. Nothing fancy, just a receiver, CD carousel and a pair of M40s a foot or so back from the railing that overlooks the living room. It sounds wonderful. It's certainly not an ideal setup for critical listening -- the railing probably mucks up the imaging, as does the wall of windows on the other side of the listening postion, but it still has that glorious sound you only get in a large listening area with a cathedral ceiling. Don't know why I waited so long... now I have to listen to all the CDs again. Good thing they're in a carousel
